Hygiene

The hygiene laboratory is approved as a drinking water testing centre according to §15 TrinkwV and carries out hygienic-microbiological examinations of water samples for both hospitals and private senders. In addition, we offer a wide range of hygienic-microbiological examinations for quality assurance in medical facilities (especially in clinics and medical or dental practices).

Services

Water laboratory

Scope of services water laboratory (see also scope of DAkkS accreditation)

  • Determination of total colony counts (incubation aerobically at 36 °C and 20 °C)
  • Quantitative determination of coliform bacteria and Escherichia coli
  • Quantitative determination of Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Quantitative determination of intestinal enterococci
  • Quantitative determination of legionella

Hospital hygiene

Scope of Services Laboratory Hospital Hygiene (see also Scope of DAkkS Accreditation)

  • Checking the quality of results after reprocessing, e.g. in CSSD, endoscopy, dialysis, plasmapheresis (including water for medical use)
  • Control of germ contamination of medical devices and medicinal products
  • Testing the low germ content of room air (bacteria, sprouts and moulds)
  • Testing the low germ content of supply air from ventilation and air-conditioning (AHU) systems
  • Disinfection controls of the hands of medical staff as well as of e.g. surfaces, equipment, utensils, especially in high-risk and clean-room areas.
  • Microbiological process controls on sterilisers (with steam, hot air, PO plasma), on washer-disinfectors and on hospital decontamination systems (e.g. bed preparation).
  • Clarification of nosocomial infections in medical facilities
