Confirmed: LMU’s Clinical Virology Department Meets the Highest Quality Standards

The Clinical Virology Department at the Max von Pettenkofer Institute of LMU Munich continues to uphold the highest quality standards. On December 10, 2025, the laboratory once again successfully passed assessment in accordance with DIN EN ISO 15189 for medical laboratory diagnostics, with zero non-conformities.

During a comprehensive audit, an independent assessor from the German Accreditation Board (DAkkS) confirmed that the department’s quality management system fully complies with all technical and organizational requirements, with no deviations identified. This result is particularly noteworthy given that, in summer 2025, the diagnostics unit was completely relocated to a newly constructed building in Großhadern, purpose-built for this function. The state-of-the-art laboratory facility on Marchioninistraße integrates the latest technical and organizational infrastructures, providing optimal conditions for efficient, future-oriented virological diagnostics.

The renewed accreditation without any non-conformities reaffirms the department’s commitment to excellence and the consistently high quality of its diagnostic service, delivered in full compliance with regulatory and legal requirements at an internationally comparable level.

The team takes great pride in this achievement. The Clinical Virology Department at the Max von Pettenkofer Institute has maintained accreditation for more than 25 years, reflecting its longstanding commitment to continuity, reliability, and excellence in medical diagnostics.
